I drive around a lot, and over the years I've noticed a common thread in roadside landscapes. Everything is falling apart! It always stands out in buildings and cars. Even a well-kempt car shows its age when a new body style comes to town. Evidence of people's acceptance to the deterioration, or their efforts to resist it, are visible at every turn.

It's important for my paintings, like my ideas, to remain subtle while being well structured. I use the urban and rural landscapes as a stage for my ideas. To avoid being too direct I use vehicles and buildings in my paintings as actors, that stand in for their owners whom either let things fall apart, or try to slow down the process. The objects in the paintings either appear to move because they are in use (as seen in "Taxi Motion"), or are stuck as we watch them disintegrate (like the car in "Fog"). The dissolving edges of structures that were once linear touch on this loss of order, while the playful little bursts of color lift the paintings back up.
